5. Do I get a choice between using Windows NT and Linux? [ back to top ]
Both have their own features. Linux servers are cheaper and secured. NT servers are easy to maintain. It will be entirely your choice.
6. Can I upgrade to a different service plan in the future? [ back to top ]
Yes, if you need a more extensive place than the one you're signed up for, you can easily upgrade or add extra services. Likewise, if you find that you have signed up for a more comprehensive plan than you needed, you can downgrade to a more basic plan. We will customize our service to your needs.
7. Are there any "hidden"; fees? [ back to top ]
No. You don't have to deal with any hidden fees as a GSD customer.

With colocation, you provide your own admin, hardware and software where we provide the Power, Space, and Connectivity (PSC) to connect your server/equipment to the world. If you want us to admin, there is additional cost. Talk to us about it.
10. Can I bring in Towers, or do you only allow rack-mounted equipment at your facility? [ back to top ]
In GSD, we accept any size server, rack-mounted or full size tower.
11. How can GSD offer competitive prices as compare to the industry standard? [ back to top ]
The main reasons are our philosophies in keeping our overhead low, a large customer based, no debt and profitability. These ensure us to have a competitive advantage in the marketplace for colocation services.
12. Can I use the full throughput of the access line I had subscribed without additional charges? [ back to top ]
Absolutely! We will give you exactly whatever amount you subscribe to. No tricks (i.e., if you sign up for 128 Kpbs (1:8), you receive minimum of 16 Kbps up to 128 Kbps).
13. How difficult would it be to upgrade my colocation plan? [ back to top ]
Just give us a call or email to sales@saranadata.com. We tailor to your needs. Our upgrade procedure is very simple and will be processed within 24 hours of upon receiving your request, but oftentimes it is done within less than 30 minutes.
14. What do I need for colocation? [ back to top ]
Any server or telecommunications equipment will work. If you are colocating a web server for a large website or multiple websites, you may have more involved requirements. The more involved your web site(s), application(s) or other outsourced Internet infrastructure requirements and the more traffic your server will generate, the more powerful you should build your server(s) and other collocated hardware. An example hardware configuration for an average web server would be a Pentium 600 MHz or higher, a minimum of 128 Megs of ram, and a 20 GIG Hard drive. If you were going to run a database application, an additional server may be needed. In addition to the server(s), you'll need to bring the power cords for your server.
15. How much lead time need to bring my collocated equipment into GSD? [ back to top ]
The paperwork required by GSD to get the account set up is simple. You can bring your server in anytime and can be set up within 2 hours, together fill-in required paperwork (i.e., contract and server entry form). Everything can be done on the same day when your server is brought into GSD. 1 day notification is needed for Rack mount Service. The setup time will be as fast as the normal collocation service.
16. Is there a set-up fee for installing my server(s)? [ back to top ]
For colocation with us, no setup fee during this promotion period.
17. Is there a contract involved? [ back to top ]
For colocation services, GSD has a contract for customers to fill out and sign. This contract is set up one year basis. If you wish to pay for periods 1 year in advance, discounts apply.

There are discounts for paying in advance (i.e., half annual or annual payment), reseller discounts, referral discounts, and customized plans that we can cater for your specific needs that take into account multiple services from GSD.

GSD accepts cash, payment by cheque as well as bank transfer.
20. What if my IT staff needs hands-on access to our equipment? [ back to top ]
We offer 24/7 access to your equipment. However, there are some limitations that apply to gaining access to our facility:
a) Tell us the "person in charge" name and keep us updated all times for security reason.
Name not on your list will not be permitted unless provide an authorization letter.
b) The incoming customers need to provide proof of identity and sign necessary documents which are being provided by us.
c) Visitors must comply with search of items being brought into the building prior to passing through any given server room or data center access point.
21. How secure is your facility? [ back to top ]
GSD Colocation implements several security protocols to eliminate access to our facility. Entry points include proximity locks, and armed guard patrols. All server room and data center entry points remain locked at all times with the exception of customer visitation or staff scheduled maintenance. The same applies to all server cabinets.
22. What happens in the event of a power outage? [ back to top ]
We operate a diesel backup power generator, capable of sustaining our entire operation indefinitely. The generator is capable of replacing utility power for up-to 24 hours.
23. How reliable are your Internet connections? [ back to top ]
GSD Colocation guarantees a 99.9% up-time service-level-agreement. We utilize incoming data pipes from major backbone networks including three triple redundant Satellites teleport and 100Mbps connection to IIX.
24. How does GSD Colocation handle port blocking? [ back to top ]
We run a firewall system in front of all servers, which allows us to limit access to incoming ports on your servers. At the time of purchase, you must specify which ports need to be opened up for which servers. All remaining ports are blocked at the firewall level. If you need to open/close ports in the future, this is free of charge and takes about 15 minutes to implement.
